Grant Making
Official Grant Request Form
Grant proposals consistent with BCF’s mission will be given serious
consideration.
We encourages grant proposals that:
- Represent projects that will utilize a collaborative network.
- Present a well-planned approach to solving a problem, delivering
services, or raising awareness.
- Outline an efficient use of funds within the organization or a
program.
- Represent projects that promote better relationships and foster a
sense of community.
- Benefit area residents and the entire community.
- Facilitate projects that will be completed within 12 months
following the grant.
The Grants Committee evaluates grant requests to provide grants in the
Brandon area to support matters such as:
- Arts and Humanities (theatre, music, arts, dance, cultural
development, historic preservation, library programs, museums).
- Community Affairs and Development (public use of parks and
recreation, administration of justice, economic development, public
health and safety, leadership).
- Education and youth (learning, support of educational facilities and
systems, wellness, participation in athletics and physical fitness
activities).
- Environment (protection of natural area, recycling, conservation of
energy, prevention and elimination of pollution or waste, wildlife
protection, water quality).
- Health (improvement of health care, prevention of substance abuse,
support of mental health needs, medical research).
To work responsibly for our donors' charitable vision, BCF discourages
grant proposals for:
- Ongoing operational support.
- Reducing or eliminating organizational debts or deficits.
- Computer hardware and software.
- Staff salaries (except in conjunction with a new program).
- Sectarian religious purposes.
- Endowments.
- Political advocacy projects.
- Telephone solicitations and national fundraising efforts.
- Educational programs benefiting the work of local community
organizations.
