Grant Making             Official Grant Request Form

Grant proposals consistent with BCF’s mission will be given serious consideration. 
We encourages grant proposals that:
  • Represent projects that will utilize a collaborative network.
  • Present a well-planned approach to solving a problem, delivering services, or raising awareness.
  • Outline an efficient use of funds within the organization or a program.
  • Represent projects that promote better relationships and foster a sense of community.
  • Benefit area residents and the entire community.
  • Facilitate projects that will be completed within 12 months following the grant.

The Grants Committee evaluates grant requests to provide grants in the Brandon area to support matters such as:
 

  • Arts and Humanities (theatre, music, arts, dance, cultural development, historic preservation, library programs, museums).
  • Community Affairs and Development (public use of parks and recreation, administration of justice, economic development, public health and safety, leadership).
  • Education and youth (learning, support of educational facilities and systems, wellness, participation in athletics and physical fitness activities).
  • Environment (protection of natural area, recycling, conservation of energy, prevention and elimination of pollution or waste, wildlife protection, water quality).
  • Health (improvement of health care, prevention of substance abuse, support of mental health needs, medical research).

To work responsibly for our donors' charitable vision, BCF discourages grant proposals for:

  • Ongoing operational support.
  • Reducing or eliminating organizational debts or deficits.
  • Computer hardware and software.
  • Staff salaries (except in conjunction with a new program).
  • Sectarian religious purposes.
  • Endowments.
  • Political advocacy projects.
  • Telephone solicitations and national fundraising efforts.
  • Educational programs benefiting the work of local community organizations.

Grant-making Process

Grant applications are accepted anytime by the BCF.  Each spring, the BCF will review applications that are received prior to February 5th of that year.  Anyone interested in receiving a grant is encouraged to complete the BCF Grant Application Form.  If a grant is awarded, the recipient must also complete the Grant Agreement Form and the Post Grant Form.
